This stitch pattern, borrowed from the Harmony Guides, started out looking very different, but substituting a centered double decrease gives the bold line to the simple pattern.

These socks are worked from the top down, with increases worked into the stitch pattern, based on the amazing new way to knit a sock from New Pathways for Sock Knitters. A modified flap heel turns down to the foot, and the bold line is maintained along the edges. The stitch pattern is maintained all the way through the wedge toe.

Instructions are written to work this sock on two circulars, or using magic loop. The heel and foot are easiest to work when broken up into two sections. The gauge given produces a larger women’s sock. Getting a gauge of 7.5 sts per inch should make the sock fit a smaller foot.
