It doesn’t get more basic than this. The classic tee shirt, re-worked to be easy, fast, and guaranteed to fit you perfectly.
You can simply pick a size and knit by the numbers, “Designer’s Notes” are provided side-by-side to allow you to try on the garment and make small changes for the best possible for for you.
This pattern is graded from 29”-55” bust sizes in 2” increments.

The tee is started at the very top. A few inches of the back and the area around the collar are knitted flat with short rows to make a nice smooth shoulder.
Next, stitches are picked up across the shoulders and the body and sleeves are worked simultaneously in the round.
The body directions include waist shaping to give a nice defined shape. The hips are slightly larger than the bust to keep the bottom from clinging.
Finally a bottom hem is sewn shut, with one small purl row to keep the edge from flipping.
This sweater is meant to be worn with 1”-2” positive ease. Pick a size just above your actual measurement.
You can substitute any yarn that gives you the proper gauge and that produces a fabric you are happy with. A dk weight cotton with some wool or linen would be ideal.
Errata:
A new version of this pattern was released on August 4, 2008. This version of the pattern clarified the position of the increases in the yoke, made the neck opening easier to work, and cleaned up the look of the pattern. If you purchased a previous version of this pattern and wish to receive the new version, please contact me at gorlitsaknits@gmail.com.
The new neck directions apply to the very beginning of the “Front” section. Rather than binding off the 30 or so stitches for the back of the neck, place those stitches on a stitch holder to be picked up and worked for the collar. This makes the collar easier to work and slightly more stretchy.
